#BOMTC Goes to the Museum!

Did you know that there is a series of online exhibits from the Church History Museum featuring stories and teachings from the Book of Mormon?

The purpose of the online exhibits is to to supplement one’s study of the Book of Mormon. What a great idea! I remember as a child/youth thinking (and sometimes saying aloud), “I wish there were pictures in the scriptures. That would make reading them a lot more fun.” (For some reason I didn’t consider the Abraham Facsimiles to be enough…)

But it is not just a great idea for that reason. The Church History Department hopes the online series will enrich the study and learning experience of those that study the Book of Mormon.

One of the things that is so powerful about art is that it can transcend language barriers and say more than one could ever write. Consider how many people will be edified and supported in their study of the Book of Mormon without a single word ever needing to be translated. WOW!

Recently, a new virtual exhibit was added to the Book of Mormon series on the Church History Museum website. This new exhibit, “A Mighty Change in Your Hearts,” beautifully illustrates the power of the Book of Mormon and the glory of God’s promises to all His people.

As of March 2016, there are six Book of Mormon exhibits in the series, and additional exhibits will be published in the near future. So keep checking back during the 2016 #BOMTC to find great art to illuminate and enrich your study of the Book of Mormon!

I will leave you with one of my favorite pieces of art from each of the six exhibits. I use the term “favorite” loosely, because I have lots of favorites in each collection. By clicking on any of the art below you can access the different exhibits in the series. I invite you to look around and see if you find any new “favorites”.
