TODAY IS A SPECIAL DAY! It was on April 6th, 1830, that Joseph Smith officially organized the Church of Christ in Peter Whitmer Sr.’s home (Fayette, New York.) and recorded part of Doctrine and Covenants 20, concerning Church organization and government. Joseph also received Doctrine and Covenants 21.
And, as if that isn’t reason enough to celebrate and break out the ice cream and cake, Elder David A. Bednar also taught that:
“Today is April the sixth. We know by revelation that today is the actual and accurate date of the Savior’s birth. April the 6th is also the date on which The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was organized.” (https://www.lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2014/04)
One of the ways that I like to celebrate this special day is to begin my study of the Book of Mormon. Although the Book of Mormon Translation Challenge officially begins on April 7th, I read the introductory pages to the Book of Mormon today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the Church, and HAPPY READING to you!
